It's clear that lately a two-tiered system of moderation has emerged on the platform and it's one that has allowed anti-Semitism to foment among the communities around its largest political streamers.
To be fair, I enjoy much of Asmongold's content, despite being politically diametrically opposed 100% to his average commenter. He's entertaining to say the least.
However there is a long standing culture of double standards at Twitch, and I'm not sure their just-announced categorization of political content will fix anything.
Dan Clancy et al do seem to go much further than merely enjoying content.
Really great article, I didn't even know about him calling them hicks somehow it gets crazier everytime I look back. Also the hicks paragraph and the following one about the tier list were really well written
Great article maybe the best so far I’ve read here. I’m long aware of Hasans antics, he is profoundly anti Western, aligned with Arabs probably from his heritage, basically shitting in the garden that made him rich, so to say. He’s a hateful person in other words, he doesn’t miss a chance to denigrate other streamers, calling them tasteless for example while dressing like a homeless clown / hipster himself, it is beyond ironic, how dumb he actually is. He’s two faced as well, he will always try to endlessly justify his remarks when he does one of his frequent missteps, his community calls it “stunlock”, basically endless justification because of a schizophrenic disorder most likely - fighting with himself mainly not even the chat. It’s quite insane. And that’s his audience. They like how extreme he is, they’re mostly in it for the entertainment and they enjoy Hassan putting down others, whoever that day it will be, house owners, other streamers, Jews, endless possibilities. His stream is a mix between putting others down and Larping as a reasonable teacher person who tries to teach “kids” how the world works - at least it used to be that, when I watched years ago, but I bet it didn’t change, just as Hassan didn’t change. If anything he changed for the worse, he wasn’t quite this unhinged when I used to watch him back then.
I didn’t know that Twitch is complacent with him, it’s bad, but on the other hand mismanagement in twitch is known for a good time now so I’m not really surprised. I would’ve certainly never assumed that this CEO is good, he never came across as that. Anyway, what else can I say? Amazon is managed by Bezos, who’s also an erratic human being, so it’s questionable if this situation with twitch will change anytime soon, sadly.
He's a nepobaby that got where he is because his uncle is Cenk Uygur, that guy who wrote a college thesis on 'why Armenians deserved genocide' and named his show after the group who carried out the genocide? Ahh, yes. It makes sense.
Fantastically written as usual Richard, shocking to see that Clancy has allowed such flagrant violations of his own rules to be broadcasted to tens of thousands of people. Not only just the violations, but the inconsistent enforcement of the rules, is almost as bad as the statements that Clancy is allowing Piker to say and endorsing what he is saying.
Thank you for the comprehensive overview. I was only aware of some of these instances. It is surreal that this behavior is accepted and, even worse, endorsed. Beyond the fact that Twitch tolerates this type of content in general, its guidelines state that the platform is designed for users aged 13 and above. How can you allow this type of content to spread and actively endorse it, knowing that teenagers will likely be exposed to it due to its popularity and prominent placement in sections (or even the start page ffs), all while lacking effective age restrictions?
Great article.
Thanks Rich, I was keyed into the situation but this has even more grim detail
Banger title
Good write up on the situation and it's upsetting that it has gotten this far at all.
Great article, will be interesting to see what comes out of all this current stuff going on

Insane times
Richard Jewish strikes again
Great read.
Interesting read Richard, I'm looking forward to the further developments you mention in the intro to the article.
Great article Richard. An absolute embarrassment of policy enforcement

Keep it up.
'Aligned with Arabs, probably because of his heritage' dude can you try sound less racist next time wtf.
Culture isn’t racism. Maybe brush up on basic knowledge 12 year olds understand better than you.
